PATIENTLY WAITING

Sorry to everyone who's wondering where I am, and why no posts! Because I am a Lady In Waiting, waiting for my new baby - I am finally able to afford a NEW computer!

It's been quite a saga with the old one, as many of you will have read, so I won't bore you with that again. Suffice to say, usually you need to ScanDisc and Defragment your computer weekly (certainly monthly, to keep it running nicely and clear out all the old stuff that's slowing it down). I've been defragmenting daily - sometimes twice a day, and it's like running through wet sand, the poor thing is so slow.

Well, I ordered and paid for one last week - all ready to update to Windows 7 - and guess what I got? A computer without an operating system, and the updated graphics card I paid extra for was only for XP and Vista. So not exactly updated, was it? The clincher was that I couldn't even open the CD/DVD drawer to insert the disc to activate the motherboard. So, in other words, a heap of junk that wouldn't work at all. This, from a company that was recommended. It went STRAIGHT back!

Isn't this a sight to instill a little glow of pride?
You'll be glad to know I got an expedited refund, and bought another one on the same day the refund came through (Friday) - so I've just bought a 12.8Ghz Quad Core 8GB 1TB desktop HDMI Windows 7 computer with an updated  graphics card:Radeon 1GB HD 5450. So I have some serious power under the hood and cannot wait to get my hot little hands on it! And it's off eBay!

I'll keep you posted.

Holy cow Susie! You have the WORST LUCK with computers so I hope this NEW ONE is absolutely wonderful for you!!!
It sounds faster than a speeding bullet (or faster than Anne driving....*ahem*) and hopefully should provide everything you could need and/or WANT!
I'm still slogging along with my old tower...waiting for it to fall and not getting any work to save for a new one. I really want both STORAGE and UBER-SPEED.
    I want it all!

    XXOO~~

  2. Computer woes, gotta love them! NOT so much! I had so many problems with my HP computer that they finally took it back and sent me a new one, complete with Windows 7 and all...Well they made me keep the original wrranty I had on the original computer I had bought and right after the warranty ran out the hard drive went on the new computer! It's just been sitting in a closet now because I don't have the money to get it fixed. So I'm sharing my moms laptop with her. Thank God she lives with us or I wouldn't have a computer at all!

  3. Rosie - Don't despair! My old computer ran out of warranty as well - but the crucial bit is that your hard drive was installed WITHIN warranty. So it might well be worth hassling them, and in the interests of public relations you might get a result.

See my two posts re this:

If you make a big fuss, you might just get somewhere.... I do SO SYMPATHISE!

    Hi Susie Sweetie...
Don't you just hate it when that happens? We work so hard for our money and save, and then get taken by some company without a care in the world. In the long run it appears you are getting the BEST of the BEST, so it worked out well in the end. Can't wait to see your beauty.
Hang in there a little bit longer sweetie.

This is the Miracle Weekend makeover. I am one of the hosting sites. For every comment left, Guideposts magazine will pay a dollar, to the next cancer makeover patient. Please stop by and read the story about 9 year old Charlie, and bless me with a comment. Out goal between the 4 or 5 blogs is 5,000. I know we can do it. I would appreciate it, if you pass the word around to as many friends as possible.

Thank you sweetie for a wonderful post. I love it. Have a glorious weekend. Country hugs from Phoenix, Sherry

  6. In hopes of avoiding those kind of problems I bought a Mac. After paying the final bill I had to go lay down for awhile.

It ran for 1 week, then totally crashed. I couldn't even boot it up.

The people at the Apple cult storefront assured me that Macs didn't crash.

It took me about a month to get a replacement.

Glad to hear you are up and running again and are able to make art again.

  7. OUCH,Jody!

I so totally feel your paint. My first new computer (the one I sent back) not only didn't have an operating system, but I couldn't even open the CD drawer to boot up the motherboard.

Glad you've got it all sorted now - let's hope nothing else goes wrong!
