In Japan back in the days of the Samurai, court ladies used to have pillow books, to record dreams and aspirations ... we'd call them journals today.
I've just put this up into my Etsy shop SOLD
Heavily romantic, lots of black lace, organza ribbon and a rather gorgeous gold-leaf screen printed handmade paper (Paperchase, London - just couldn't resist it....) Reminiscent of the courts of Marie Antoinette and the Medicis...
This has cross-bound stitching on the spine.
As Valentine's Day is fast approaching, you've still got time to make a pillow book of your own (or buy one and decorate the cover). A great idea for a present for your loved one... and a lot more original than a card and chocolates.

I have to say I rather like the idea of keeping a special book under my pillow (for those 3am brilliant flashes of genius we can never quite remember in the morning.) Mine would probably be bookbinding formats, but yours might be something much more interesting, romantic: secrets, dreams and aspirations...

Happy Pink Saturday Susie Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous share today. Your journal is absolutely exquisite. I love it. I love the black lace and of course the writing - confessions of a lady. It is so romantic and beautiful. You create the most beautiful things my friend.
Thank you so much for sharing with me this evening. Have a glorious weekend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Hi Susie,
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink!
Your site looks wonderful and I know you are glad to be some place that works! Blogger is on a one way mission to get people on their Google+ social network. I guess you read about the Google Friend Connect not being available to any blogs except Blogger as of March 1?
Anyhow, your design is so clean and pretty...
Drop by to see me sometime...I miss you. ♥
Hugs,
Steph ♥
Happy Pink Saturday! I love your journal, I really like the sound of "pillow book." If I kept one it would be similar to the one you keep in content. ((smiling)) I love your binding. Happy Valentine's Day. Joyous Wishes, Linda
ReplyDeletePS. I'm going to try to follow you, if I can figure it out how on your blog. I'm sure I will.
Wow, this is gorgeous! So glad I saw you at Beverly's Pink Saturday. ~Diane (I am #16)
